About the event

Let’s celebrate the spring with a rare and meaningful egg etching workshop—an opportunity to gather, create, and give back. This special class is offered in support of those defending their country and democracy, with 50% of proceeds benefiting a grassroots effort aiding Ukrainian soldiers. Unlike traditional pysanky workshops, this is a dye-free process using vinegar and brown eggs from the instructor's free-range chickens. Participants will begin with a naturally dark brown egg and draw their designs with beeswax. We then etch the surface back to reveal subtle variations in tone, creating depth and imagery within a rich, monochromatic palette. The session includes an brief introduction to the history of Ukrainian egg decorating, an overview of materials, and guided instruction throughout the etching process. You will have the opportunity to make 2 finished eggs in this 2 hour workshop.
