Come celebrate the spring at Calgo Gardens! Learn the ancient art of Ukrainian egg decorating with egg artist, Jenny Santa Maria, in her hometown. We'll meet in the greenhouse, and discover the history, materials, and techniques in a welcoming, beautiful space. Pls bring $10 cash material fee.

About the event

Pysanky, a revered art form dating back to the Neolithic, involves creating intricate designs on eggs using beeswax and dyes in a layered batik method. In this workshop, you will learn various techniques, explore traditional designs, and delve into the historical and cultural significance of Pysanky. All participants will bring home their own beautifully decorated egg and have the skills to pass on and enjoy with their families for years to come. This workshop is open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. All materials are provided; including eggs from my own chickens and a local farm in Farmingdale. Please bring an apron or old shirt and an egg carton for safely transporting your egg. Ages 18+


***Please bring $10 cash, payable the day of the workshop for materials.

*** We meet in the Greenhouse. Class starts at 1:30 sharp.
