About the event

Let's celebrate the spring as you learn the ancient art of Pysanky, or Ukrainian Egg Decorating, inside the flowering greenhouse at The Herbary! Surrounded by blossoms and greenery, this experience invites you into a centuries-old folk art tradition that celebrates life, love, and our shared humanity. Using a wax-resist process traditionally passed down by the Matriarch of the family, patterns are drawn onto the egg with beeswax. The egg is then dipped into richly saturated dyes, layer by layer, with the wax preserving each step of the design. When the wax is finally melted away, the hidden colors are revealed in a moment that feels nothing short of magical.

The session includes an introduction to the history and symbolism of pysanky, a guided demonstration, and time for independent practice. Expect a space that welcomes story telling in warm, supportive environment. All materials are provided, including eggs from the instructor's free range…
