This is your invitation to play, explore, and discover the joy of painting! After all, what better way to understand water than by painting shells shaped by it? Using shells as our guide, we’ll learn techniques in small, approachable sections while building confidence.

About the event

Step into my home and artists' sanctuary for an unforgettable watercolor experience. Just around the corner from Calgo Gardens and the Manasquan Reservoir, you'll have the opportunity to learn in a small group setting how to paint with new techniques and approaches.

This class is unlike other watercolor classes because:

  • We learn the language of water first. By understanding how watercolor behaves (how pigment flows, blends, and responds) you gain a natural sympathy for the medium that many classes overlook, making painting feel far more intuitive and enjoyable.

  • We use versatile, high-quality materials, specifically Dr. Ph. Martin’s watercolor inks, known for their rich, intense, jewel-like color and expressive intensity. We will explore other materials, such as watercolor pencils, so the skills you learn easily translate beyond the class and into your everyday creative life.

  • This is a supportive space for curiosity and questions, where personal expression is encouraged and exploration is part…
